It provides you with various different topics and most importantly, it keeps you interested. VERY Helpful

About the Author
Jiuguang Feng received his two Masters degrees from the College of Education at Towson University in USA. He also has a BA in English. He has been working as an instructor for more than 12 years in China and USA. He was the winner of Marilyn Nicholas scholarship in April 2009 at Towson. He has published a few journal articles in English and Chinese in peer-reviewed journals and two book chapters in English in USA. Currently, he serves as an English writing lecturer in Les Roches Jin Jiang in Shanghai. His interests include technology integration in education, MUVE learning environment, technology integration in foreign language education, foreign language learning and teaching, hospitality, and hospitality education.

Sacha Stocklin, since September 2008, has been the Campus Director and Academic Dean of Les Roches Jin Jiang in Shanghai. He joined the renowned institution of Les Roches, Switzerland, in July 2006 as program manager after lecturing a wide range of subjects including Marketing, Accounting, Leadership, and Organizational Behavior, and leading the second- and third-year programs at Hotel Institute Montreux. Dr. Stocklin obtained an educational doctorate through Open University, a Masters of Business Administration from Heriot Watt University, and a Bachelors of Business Administration from Northwood University. In addition, he holds a higher diploma from the business school of Basel, Switzerland. Before teaching, Dr. Stocklin had been working and holding management positions in the hospitality as well as the insurance industry. Dr. Stocklin researches knowledge-oriented approaches to organizational behavior and leadership from economic and cognitive psychological perspectives.

Wei Wang received her Masters degree from the College of English in Xian International Studies University. She has been working as an English instructor for nine years in Shanghai Normal University. She has taught students from different majors. Her research interests include college English reform, foreign language teaching and learning, and CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning).

"The eight-year Iran-Iraq war near the end of the 20th century renewed the horrors of the First World War near the start of the century - causing millions of casualties and untold devastation on both sides. It also resulted in a vigorous and dynamic cinematic output in Iran, producing some of the most ardent Islamist political movies, Shii-inflected spiritual films, and original theorization of what constitutes an 'Islamic cinema'. Fun book!

What do you do with all of your crazy ideas? Why sketch them, of course! This great sketchbook is filled with sketches of strange inventions– a dry land swim machine and a dress that inflates into a chair so you can sit anywhere (I mean, that sounds awesome!). It provides some brain juice to get your kids’ ideas flowing, as well as provides opportunities for young inventors to think outside the box and design both practical and fantastical designs in response to various prompts. I love that it gives kids some practical insights into recording ideas, sketching inventions, and even a little bit about patents! My kids have been really enjoying this book- lots of laughs and also the beautiful sentences that start out “what if we…..?” I love books that encourage the kids to think outside the box!

Erik Rodriguez Pacheco

Erik Rodriguez Pacheco works as a manager in the business intelligence unit at Banco Improsa in San Jose, Costa Rica, where he holds 11 years of experience in the financial industry. He is currently a professor of the business intelligence specialization program at the Instituto Tecnologico de Costa Rica's continuing education programs. Erik is an enthusiast of new technologies, particularly those related to business intelligence, data mining, and data science. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Universidad de Costa Rica, a specialization in business intelligence from the Instituto Tecnologico de Costa Rica, a specialization in data mining from Promidat (Programa Iberoamericano de Formacion en Mineria de Datos), and a specialization in business intelligence and data mining from Universidad del Bosque, Colombia. He is currently enrolled in an online specialization program in data science from Johns Hopkins University. He has served as the technical reviewer of R Data Visualization Cookbook and Data Manipulation with R - Second Edition, both from Packt Publishing. Low quality, low value-added

Packt's conveyor is not slowing down: only three months ago I surveyed their fresh crop of "data science with R" offerings

"Mastering Predictive Analytics with R" by Forte, £32.99
"Mastering Machine Learning with R" by Lesmeister, £34.99
"R Data Analysis Cookbook" by Viswanathan and Viswanathan, £29.99
"Machine Learning with R Cookbook" by Yu-Wei, £30.99

and now there are four more:

"Unsupervised Learning with R" by Pacheco, £25.99
"Data Analysis with R" by Fischetti, £34.99
"Learning Predictive Analytics with R" by Mayor, £31.99
"Mastering Data Analysis with R" by Daroczi, £34.99

So far I have gone through the first two "new" titles. Fischetti's is the rare exception from the norm, the good book in Packt's sea of dross. (It is, however, much closer to "proper" statistics than to machine-learning methods, so - skipping ahead - not a direct competitor to this title).

Pacheco's, on the other hand, is a typical Packt product, a glorified copy-paste of vignettes of several R packages, with minimal effort to integrate and present the content, or explain the algorithms. The book's "unique selling proposition", it seems, is covering one or two relevant packages more per topic than its competitors do. On the other hand, those competitors - take Forte, for example - cover a lot of topics when "Unsupervised Learning" attempts only three: clustering, association rules, and PCA.

Pass this inferior product without a second thought. In the Packt stable, better options are the books by Forte and Lantz. The best book overall is "Introduction to Statistical Learning" by Witten et al.

UPD. With the benefit of a little more life experience, I would say: don't spend your time on *any* R book. Python is the way to go.

To say that the book is boring is to say nothing... but I guess theories are meant to be boring. On the good side, the book provides multiple examples, which make the read more doable. Yet, there are too many words saying the same thing...

Organization Behavior in Healthcare - a great resource from Amazon

This is an amazing book - amazing in the amount of references to the literature in organization behavior. Practically all of the important issues - motivation, communication, groups and teams, leadership, organization design and so on are covered. I am not sure I would use it in a course, but I would keep it handy as a reference for classes on teach on any of these topics. And I would use chapters as readings in various courses.
